Recently, Everybody has been talking about Daddy Freeze and his free the sheeple movement against pastors and tithers. Most times, we prefer attacking the person instead of the topic. Well, is so hard for those who tithe to explain without using Malachi 3:10-12. Its like a national anthem for them....
but no one dares ask the preacher about Deuteronomy 14:22-27. No believer dare ask a pastor about Matthew 25. Why is it so hard for some Christians to study or read the bible? I dont really want to get into this issue but by my observation, If you must pay tithes, you are obligated to do it correctly as stipulated in the Bible.
1. You only pay tithe on the 1st,2nd,4th,5th and 6th years.
2. On the 3rd year, you are commanded to distribute your tithe to the poor, widow and hungry...this is not a choice, it is a commandment.
3. You must not pay tithe on the 7th year, it is the year of jubilee...you are commanded to eat your tithe before the lord.
But, if you want to give unto the Lord and his ministry as a new convenant Christian...you should not tithe, you should rather give willingly, cheerfully, not coerced or out of an obligation either to tithing in the Old Testament or from a preacher.
The fact still remains that Money means nothing to God. Salvation is free and it doesn't cost 10% of your income.
Deuteronomy 14: 25 and 26.
22 Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. 23 Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and olive oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the Lord your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the Lord your God always. 24 But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the Lord your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the Lord will choose to put his Name is so far away), 25 then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the Lord your God will choose. 26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice.
Yes organized religion has many things wrong with it but it is useful for its subscribers at whatever level of involvement they find themselves.
What is shitt for one animal is food for another.
Let me conclude by saying that Paying my tithe is not the problem. The problem I have with most churches nowadays is that they teach us "doctrines" instead of "religion". So many churches go as far as recording the names and amount paid by every member as a reference in case you are having problems or need assistance. Why are pastors close friends to the highest donors in the church? It has even gotten to the point where church paste the name of tithe defaulters on notice board, makawhy? Before some churches join people together in marriage they must tender their tithe clearance certificate. It's obvious this people only care about your pocket. To add insult upon injury they Now have POS (Point of Sale) in church meaning any way Na way no excuse for not dropping money.

Tithe payment is not compulsory but it is necessary.

.
Tithe is paid for the sake of God and should be used for the sake of God.

Don't criticise tithe payment rather criticise what tithe is used for..
.
.
I don't know what you believe but what i believe is that there is nothing wrong with titthe payment rather something is wrong with how the paid tithe is used.

Ideally 60-65% of Proceeds recovered from tithe and offerings should be used for humanitarian and outreach activities, while the remainder can go to the church, but the problem we have is that reverse is the case.

Let me not judge so that i cannot be judged.

Precaution! If you don't pay tithe, don't discourage others from paying. My pain is that some people are campaigning against tithe not for God sake but because they are envious or jealous of the flamboyant lifestyle of some men of God technically. #AdvisemenofGodbutdon'tfightthem.
The reason why some Christians are supporting Freeze is because most preachers have made it a law and even threaten people that their lives will be cursed because they don't give tithe. Some even say stuffs like "if you don't give tithe, your life will be tight"
That is incorrect. Jesus has borne all the curse for us on the cross.
However, there is a blessing that comes from giving as the scripture encourages us to give and it shall be given to us. And Paul encourages us to give willingly.
So the basis of our giving is not to avert any curse but rather to open ourselves up for the blessings that come with giving. If you don't give, there is no curse but you may not enjoy that extra blessing that comes from giving.
Have you noticed that people who have the habit of giving, always have more to give? That is a divine principle.
In fact, I encourage people to give as much as they can, even more than the 10%.
The fact is, if we understand how much God loves us with an everlasting love, our resources (money and all) would be at his disposal for his use.
